The software company Microsoft added another one to its announcements today. The new “Basic” package for Microsoft 365 was announced. The new “Basic” package for Microsoft 365 is positioned between the free package and the personal package. This new package will be activated on January 30th. Also, will be available for $1.99 per month and $19.99 per year in the US.
Microsoft 365 Basic is a new $1.99-a-month subscription
Specifically, the “Basic” package will replace the 100 GB OneDrive package. Subscribers of the existing OneDrive plan will automatically switch to the new “Basic” package. The “Basic” package gives 100 GB of cloud storage for single-person use only. It also brings an ad-free Outlook experience. It also gives full access to web and mobile versions of applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. The Basic package, which the company also offers technical support unlike the free package, does not look bad as a new alternative.
The company had previously come to the agenda with the announcement that they would leave behind a 30-year period and that they would now use the name Microsoft 365 instead of Microsoft Office. In the new era, legendary names such as Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint remain. However, the name “Office” will continue to be in some of the company’s corporate sales packages for a while.
The company made a “We’ve really invested a lot in Microsoft 365 and it’s really become our flagship productivity suite, so Office plays less of a role given that’s where our focus is. You’ll still see Office show up in certain contexts. It’s more of a shift in focus where we’re doubling down on Microsoft 365 as our productivity suite, and we want people, when they think of productivity, to think about Microsoft 365 and not Office.” statement about this step.
